SEGUIN - Beginning the evening of Tuesday, Feb. 26, 2008 Lake Placid (TP-4) will be lowered approximately 12 to 18 inches below normal so that Guadalupe-Blanco River Authority (GBRA) hydroelectric crews can perform routine inspections and maintenance to the dam.
The public is advised that these scheduled operations are planned to be completed before Feb. 29, but may need to be extended for an additional period of time.
GBRA officials will release a notification if the work period is extended. Operations may also be adjusted or canceled in the event of adverse weather conditions.
Anyone using Lake Placid (TP-4) for recreation purposes during this time should exercise caution. Lower lake levels may expose debris and other potential hazards that normally are underwater.
The GBRA was established by the Texas Legislature in 1933 as a water conservation and reclamation district. GBRA provides stewardship for the water resources in its 10-county statutory district, which begins near the headwaters of the Guadalupe and Blanco rivers, ends at San Antonio Bay, and includes Kendall, Comal, Hays, Caldwell, Guadalupe, Gonzales, DeWitt, Victoria, Calhoun, and Refugio counties.
