Volunteer Program
The purpose of the GBRA Volunteer Program is to improve the quality of life in our communities through the commitment of our employees and the use of their time, energy, talents, and skills.
Our Day to Shine
Our Day to Shine 2009Our Day to Shine 2009
Each Spring, volunteers and their families from each division of GBRA gather at a designated location to perform some type of service for needy individuals or organizations. This event is the highlight of our year and is called "Our Day to Shine."
Christmas Activities
Since the inception of the GBRA Employee Volunteer Program in September 2000, employees and their families have made Christmas brighter disadvantaged children by donating and wrapping gifts for the Blue Santa and Toys for Tots Programs. Employees support Blue Santa wrap nights in the Seguin, Victoria, and Port Lavaca areas.
Port Lavaca employees gather coats, gloves, and scarfs for children. Employees in the Seguin area volunteer with Christmas in Seguin to provide a Christmas meal for the low income, elderly, and those who have no place to go for the holidays.
GBRA Scholarship Program
GBRA's scholarship program was initiated through the Employee Volunteer Program. Scholarships are awarded to deserving high school seniors each spring.
Relay for Life
Employees also participate in the Relay for Life that benefits the American Cancer Society.
Volunteer Appreciation Banquet
Each September, a Banquet is held at a location in our service area to honor all GBRA volunteers. At this time one employee, chosen by his or her peers, is honored as Volunteer of the Year.
