On Saturday, June 4, approximately 160 kids tested their fishing skills at the GBRA/TPWD Coleto Creek Parks' 18th Annual Kid's Fishing Tournament presented by Academy Sports & Outdoors. Fishermen ranged in age from 2 to 16, and came from as far away as San Antonio, Shiner, and Jones Creek. The overall heaviest stringer weighed in was caught by 7 yr. old Gage Majefski of Victoria, which weighed 12.65 pounds and secured first place in the 7-9 age group for Gage. Gage's stringer also contained the heaviest catfish weighed in at 3.25 pounds. The other first place winners in the three other age groups were Paeden Vincik of Shiner in the 2 to 6 age group with a stringer weight of 5.65 pounds; Kelly Spann of Meyersville in the 10-12 age group with a stringer weight of 7.63 pounds; and Kyle Huber of Victoria in the 13-16 age group with a stringer weight of 10.17 pounds. Kyle, also, weighed in the single largest fish at 7.21 pounds. Other winners included Jaden Lewis of Victoria with the largest bass at 3.20 pounds, Blane Tupa of Victoria with the largest crappie at 1.11 pounds, Abigayle Fagg from Goliad with the smallest perch in the 6 and under age group, and Hannah Haug of Victoria and Kaleigh Knight of Shiner who tied for the smallest perch in the 7 to 9 age group.

Plans are already underway for the 19th Annual Coleto Creek Kids' Fishing Tournament to be held the first Saturday in June of 2012.
