Coleto Creek - The 15th Annual Coleto Creek Kids Fishing Tournament will be held Sat., June 7 from 7a.m. to noon at the Coleto Creek Park, located midway between Victoria and Goliad off of Highway 59. Physical address: 365 Coleto Park Road.

Plans are being completed by officials at Guadalupe-Blanco River Authority Coleto Creek Park and the Texas Parks & Wildlife Department to celebrate National Fishing & Boating Week, June 1-8. The event is open to all youth between the ages of 2 and 16. There will be no registration fee, only entry into the park. All children must register to fish.

"Our event targets both young people and adults to help them discover the joys of fishing and further develop an appreciation for our lakes, rivers, and the wildlife that live in and around them, " said -Jason Lewis, Coleto Creek reservoir ranger.

"In 2007 Coleto Creek events, 111 children participated in this event and all went away winners," said Lewis. Prizes will be awarded for the heaviest stringer in each of four age groups, (2-6 years, 7-9 years, 10-12 years, and 13-16 years). "We will also recognize the overall largest fish, largest bass, largest catfish, and largest crappie. Two additional prizes for the smallest perch will be given to age groups 2-6 years and 7-9 years," said Lewis.
