Volunteer @ Coleto Creek Park

The Coleto Creek Park and Lake Wood Recreation Area utilize volunteers year round to assist with a variety of projects and routine park operations and maintenance. The opportunities available are:

  • Park Host(s) - both parks utilize volunteers who put in at least 20 hours/week to supplement the park staff in exchange for campsite w/full hookups. Host(s) are asked to assist with light maintenance, litter collection, office work, and assisting with park guests. Host(s) are required to commit to a park stay of at least 30 days.
  • Interpretive Naturalist Volunteers - Coleto Creek offers nature based education programs and guided nature walks for school, youth, and adult groups throughout the year; and needs volunteers to help assist with these programs and develop new offerings. Previous experience as a teacher, specific knowledge in any natural resource area, and/or comfortable working with youth is a plus.
  • Service Project Volunteers - both parks work with Scout groups and other service organizations looking for community service projects. Groups have helped maintain the park trails, construct a weather gazebo, build an artificial fish reef, and lay out a guided nature trail. There are always some service projects waiting to be done at either park and in addition Coleto Creek is currently looking for groups who would be interested in helping lay out trails and/or assist with construction of wildlife viewing blinds on a 200-acre wildlife management area.
